BBMRI-ERIC Directory 2.0 – Search tool

Explore the European biobanks:

BBMRI-ERIC Directory 2.0 is a tool to share aggregate information about the biobanks that are willing external collaboration. For biobankers, BBMRI-ERIC Directory is where to publish information about yourself and your biobank and where you find contact information. For researchers, BBMRI-ERIC Directory will help to you to spot relevant biobanks and get their contact information, and will help you to identify such facilities and get their contact information. For patients, donors and their organizations it is possible to find information about samples stored in biobanks.

KITE – Availability service

KITE is a catalog of Finnish sample collections and contains tools to browse and search for variables available in each sample collection. KITE is currently piloted by THL Biobank and by FIMM.

SamWise – Biobank database

SamWise is an in house laboratory information management system (LIMS) and biobank database used at THL Biobank and at the FIMM-THL owned Meilahti Integrated Biobank Infrastructure (MIBI). It stores subject- and sample-related data and metadata. In addition, it stores phenotype data and metadata and has a large set of tools for data import, export, search and modifications. There are different groups of users, such as administrator, laboratory personnel, and project-specific, each group having a unique set of privileges to access and edit the data stored in the database. The data is stored in the database using research ID numbers, without personal identifiers.

REMS – Access management tool

The Resource Entitlement Management System (REMS) is an electronic tool that manages access rights to research resources, such as research datasets. Applicants can use their federated identity as authentication to the REMS, complete the data access application, commit to license terms and submit the application to the appropriate resource.

Kanta – National Archive of Health Information

The National Archive of Health Information (Kanta) is the name of the national data system services for healthcare services, pharmacies and citizens. The services include the electronic prescription, Pharmaceutical Database, My Kanta pages, and Patient Data Repository. The services are deployed in phases throughout Finland. The first to be introduced are the electronic prescription, Pharmaceutical Database, and My Health Information.
